Memory Project: El Salvador

17 Apr

MemoryProject_FV_El_Salvador_underpaintingHere is the sketch for my first portrait for The Memory Project.  The founder of this organization is Ben Schumaker.  His idea is to seek out artists to provide an original portrait for an orphaned child.  The portrait is based on a photograph provided by The Memory Project.

Typically orphaned children do not have access to family photo albums so this is a way to provide a childhood keepsake that is unique and done specifically for the sake of that one child or teenager.

This is a project for artists of all experience levels.  My drawing will be completed in colored pencil along with the portraits of three other children.  Each portrait will be 9″x12″ on tinted paper.  I hope other artists will also be inspired to participate.

      Hello Elena,
It’s been a while. Thanks for continuing to follow my blog.

I think you will love The Memory Project. With your interest in portraits and encouraging young people, you’re just the type of artist they need. I look forward to hearing your take on Ben Schumaker’s idea.
