Memory Project: Cambodia

26 Sep

MemoryProjectDSC01958_Cambodia-underptgHere is a current work in progress with basic tonal values laid down.  I will complete this drawing in colored pencil in the next week.  The size is 9″x12″ Stonehenge paper, 250 gsm, warm white, vellum finish.

This portrait is a teenage girl from Cambodia and marks my second venture with The Memory Project.  This organization, founded by Ben Schumaker, seeks out artists to provide an original portrait for an orphaned child.  Typically orphaned children do not have access to family photo albums so this is a way to provide a childhood keepsake that is unique and done specifically for the sake of that one child or teenager.  The portrait is based on a photograph provided by The Memory Project.  Artists of all experience levels participate.

Your questions and comments are most welcome!
