Illustrating stories for the children’s market in colored pencil, pen and ink, graphite and watercolor is my passion. I aim to design characters and world settings that foster a fuller experience of the story and communicate a level of experience beyond the text by encouraging my audience to really look at the natural world. Just like people, flowers and animals are rarely what we think they are based on a cursory glance, even if that casual glance has been performed many times.

I studied human artistic anatomy at the Art Students League. Subsequently I am studying botanical illustration at the New York Botanical Gardens (NYBG) with the goal of a certificate in botanical illustration. In addition to botanicals, the NYBG opened up opportunities to also study birds and seashells and insects.

When not drawing or painting I have been known to indulge in choral singing and urban hiking. I am a lifelong New Yorker (the state, not the city) and currently live in Westchester County.
